Last night, we gathered in Old Scots Church for a time of worship.
After singing and prayers, we each had the opportunity to come forward
and lay on the communion table some symbol of something we want to
leave behind in Galilee. The group felt a stronger sense of community
as we shared from the heart meaningful stories that revealed fears,
concerns, hopes, and dreams. A "half empty" glass, a stone
representing the burden of unforgiveness, pictures of what may bind or
limit our faithfulness, a few unusual, creative objects... all
representing the need for freedom and renewal. After this, we sang
"For All the Saints" and our voices echoed through the hallowed hall
and into the surrounding neighborhood, attracting a young couple on
holiday to stop in and listen. Worship is a critical aspect of
pilgrimage. We begin each day with morning prayer and worship at one
of the holy sites every day.
